With Sympathy

A co-worker of mine lost his mother-in-law last week and all I have in my stash of cards right now are a couple of thank you notes and then all Christmas cards.  The current CAS(e) this Sketch was the perfect sketch to play along with to make this card.  I took a little bit of liberty with the sketch by not placing the flowers symmetrically.

How are your Thanksgiving preparations coming along?  I'm off tomorrow so the house will get a good scrub tomorrow before Pat's sister and brother-in-law arrive on Friday. We're not cooking this year so we have it a bit easier!

Merry Christmas

Happy Monday my friends.  We had a busy but very fun weekend celebrating Jonathon's birthday. Friday night it was dinner and the high school play. Saturday we went out to see a band that we all like called Houndmouth.  Their show was incredible.  Unfortunately after the show Jonathon came down with a touch of the stomach flu.  Not very fun but he was feeling better yesterday.

We (and I say we lightly because Pat has done most of the heavy lifting) have been redecorating a few of our rooms. The family room is almost done (just needs a little paint touch up) and our bedroom is almost done. It's so nice to have new furniture, fresh paint and fresh decorations. Nothing like family coming in town to push the redecorating along!

This card is one more to add to the stash.  I'll be using the same set on Wednesday with a totally different feel to the card.

Happy Birthday Jonathon!

Popping in with a birthday card to celebrate Jonathon's 15th birthday.  He is growing into such a wonderful young man.  Here are a few highlights of this past year:

  • He has past his older brother in height...and he is oh so close to passing Pat!
  • He has found a love for building computers and computer programming.  At the beginning of the year, he decided to build his first computer.  He is addicted! He's built a computer and is continually taking it apart, buying different parts and building an even better one.  In school, he is taking his first programming class and loves that too.  I love seeing his eyes light up when he researches new parts for his computer or talks about what he is programming. He's also involved in a program at school related to programming.
  • He has become involved with our church youth group.
  • He has a heart that is a mile wild.
  • He is extremely helpful in the morning making lunch for all of his brothers.
  • He's learned to play base guitar and we can often hear him both playing and singing along in his room.
I love what a wonderful young man he is.  His smile and laugh light up the room.  Happy birthday my beautiful brown eyed boy.

Happy Christmas

Of course, I had to play along with the new PaperSmooches Challenge.  I'm trying to stretch the supplies that I already have for Christmas so I pulled out all of my Christmas dies.  I also have a lot of double sided gold paper, so it was perfect to pull out for this challenge.  To finish off the card I die cut the poinsettia leaves using this fun plaid paper.

Peace, Love & Joy

When I started creating this past weekend, I was going to try and play along with the Merry Monday challenge to make a card with pink and green, but I ran out of time to post my card. This cards was inspired by Tracey McNeely. I have had this fun Reverse Confetti card pinned for a really long time and finally CASEd it.  I made five of them for my stash. These dies are adorable and Tracey's card is absolutely fantastic!

Peace, Love & Joy

Continuing on my Christmas card trend this week, I'm playing along at CAS(e) this Sketch.   Leigh Penner makes the most fabulous cards with by coloring the stamps with ZIG markers and then spraying them with a touch of water.  I've been wanted to try this technique for a little while and was pleased with the soft feel that the card created.  Pop on over to Leigh's blog...if you haven't been there before you'll be oohing and aching with inspiration.

Peace, Love & Joy

Yesterday, Marcel had since first wrestling match of the season.  He did really well - one the first match and lost the second by two points.  Pat and I love watching him out there.  It takes so much confidence to be out there by yourself competing.  But...during wrestling matches there is a lot of time in between waiting for your turn.  I took the opportunity to start addressing my Christmas cards.  Then I came home and counted how many more I have to make...a lot!  So yesterday afternoon I spent time making cards.  Today I have two cards.  The first one is for the MUSE Christmas Visions challenge.

Second up was a card for the normal MUSE challenge and Just Us Girls water coloring card. I think you can see how I was inspired by Michele's fabulous card below.  How about you?  How are those Christmas cards coming along?
